Percona has announced the transition of Percona Everest into an independent open source project called OpenEverest.

According to the company, OpenEverest is the first open source platform for automated database provisioning and management. It supports multiple databases and can be hosted on any Kubernetes infrastructure, in the cloud, or on-premises. It also offers:

  • Cloud provider independence: Deploy on AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or any Kubernetes infrastructure.
  • High availability: Ensure your databases are always accessible with multi-region deployments.
  • Data sovereignty: Keep your data where you need it to comply with regulations.

With this change, Percona will continue to contribute to the project and provide support, consulting, and services for OpenEverest users.

To additionally support the project, Percona is launching Solanica – a cloud-native data platform “powered by OpenEverest that enables your operations teams and developers to run data workloads at scale anywhere.”
